Features
Learn to write Japanese kanji the way it is actually written — one stroke at a time, in the right order, with the right endings.
Every stroke checked as you draw it
Most apps check whether you drew the right shape. InkDojo checks how you drew it. Trace each stroke from the blue dot and it is judged on its start point, end point, shape and length. If a stroke is wrong, the app tells you which one — and shows you the right one.
Real brush endings in the model
The model strokes are drawn with the stops (tome), hooks (hane) and sweeps (harai) of a brush, so you see where a stroke should stop and where it should sweep off the page. You can switch to a plain even line in Settings if you prefer.
Four steps per kanji
- Watch the demo: the character is written in front of you, stroke by stroke.
- Trace with a guide: a blue dot marks where each stroke starts.
- Trace the faint outline without the guide.
- Take the test: a blank square, no outline — write it from memory to earn its star.
Prove it from memory
Every kanji you trace gets a test the next day. Write it without being shown a stroke and it is done; stumble on it and it comes back for another try. The review list never piles up, because anything you get right leaves it.
Readings, meanings and real words
- English meanings and on/kun readings for every character, read aloud on request, with optional romaji.
- A real example word for every kanji, spoken aloud — hear 先生 as a word, not as a list of readings.
- Search in romaji or plain English: type "mizu" or "water" to find 水.
Built for daily practice
- A daily goal, a streak, and a treasure box of 28 collectibles that fills as you trace.
- Up to four learner profiles on one device.
- Reminders scheduled on your device, so you know when a test is waiting.
